We then walked a little and found a fun playground. We stayed her for a while!
We then walked around the town and found this beauty. It was built in 1852. Oh my it was beautiful. It even had a stepping stone to get into your horse carriage. The kids had fun with that!
And this is the view from their front porch. Awesome! I could live here!!!
Another of MANY beautiful homes we saw.
This was the outside of a building. Then we walked around and this is what they did on the inside. It is so cool to see the layers of walls from the years and how the original tabby is still holding up 250+ year later! After a quick stop at the candy store we headed to the hotel. Ellie actually feel asleep in the car so I stayed with her while Tom and the kids decorated our room for my surprise birthday party. It was so sweet! We then headed to the hotel restaurant to grab a quick dinner (kids eat free there). Turns out we were the ONLY people in the restaurant. It was nice. I had frogmore stew (aka low country boil). The shrimp were yummy! We inquired about the name and it turns out that low country boil is not the original name of the meal, frogmore stew is. Who knew?? For our northern friends it is shrimp, smoked sausage, red potatoes, ears of corn and onions cooked with old bay seasoning. It is yummy. We then went swimming (indoor pool of course). After cupcakes and presents (Tom got me a cast iron dutch oven pot that I am so excited about), we settled in for the night. Well, lets just say it was an eventful night. Ellie had a fever and was up crying and inconsolable most of the night, Isaiah bit through his lip and had a mouth full of blood at one point and Savannah fell out of bed injuring herself on the night stand. After all that we realized that it was after midnight of the new year. Things got better and we got a little bit of sleep (a little). The next morning was cold and rainy (we had plans to go hiking at a state park on the beach in SC). Those plans changed and we headed home since Ellie was still not feeling well. Even with some trouble at night, it was an AWESOME birthday where I felt very loved by this man and these 3 little blessings. Here's looking to next year!
