Getting to know our new city one free event at a time

We have gotten out and enjoyed a few new things over the past month or so to get to know our new city a little better. Here is a glimpse. They only things we paid for in the post are some strawberries and a few pieces of candy. We LOVE free family fun!
 Shawnee Strawberry Festival
A weekend trip with daddy to the Kentucky Science Center (we have a membership). Caroline loved this exhibit.

Caroline was sitting on top of an exhibit about the water cycle. The balls symbolize the water in the community. It was so funny to watch her try to get them and not figure out where they were.

We ventured over to Churchill Downs to watch American Pharoah run a little. They had his practices open to the public. Turns out it was a historic experience since he won the Triple Crown this past weekend.

Someone wanted to wear her cowboy boots and decided she wanted to race horses.

He didn't run very fast, just galloped. The kids really wanted to see him race I think. We can't afford these seats to see him race. We looked it up and these seats would be easily $1,000 each, Yikes!

They then brought out a few of the other big named horses and the rest of the horses that usually train at Churchill Downs. It was a fun few mornings.

We found a local farm to go strawberry picking, it was hot but the kids loved it.

I am pretty sure they charged us for an extra pound on the receipt (as they should have). I think they saw the mouths of these two, they were bright red.
Isaiah was a rock star strawberry picker.

We were the only ones in the field and on the wagon ride to the fields. The benefits of homeschooling, you can go places when no one else is able to.

Savannah's famous strawberry pie. She even had a whipped cream helper this year in Ellie. It was delicious as always!

We took a walk one morning across the big four bridge to Jeffersonville, IN. It was a beautiful day with beautiful views.

Ellie decided mommy needed to carry her for a while, quite a lot of work for mommy.
We even stopped in the candy store in Jeffersonville. Lots of great smells in there.
After walking the bridge, we put on the kids suits and let them play in the water. I see a lot more of this in our future this summer.

The Belle of Louisville where daddy used to work back in the day.
We then stayed at the park for a picnic and some family baseball. We ended up being at the park for over 6 hours. I would say it was a good Saturday!
Mommy and her matchy matchy girls for church.

As usual the boys match. They just got new polos so they could match easier.

Look at this face, isn't she adorable. She is now crawling everywhere, pulling up to stand and getting into everything. She will be 8 months old at the end of this week. Where did my baby go???

Here is a bonus video of Ellie singing in the car, so cute!
