FOOD!!!

We haven’t had too much to report on as of late, at least nothing we thought was especially entertaining. That has all now changed. While in the grand scheme of things Savannah’s latest conquest is quite small it has been fun (and messy) for her. However, I am sure that we don’t even know the half of it yet.

What is this all about? Savannah is eating food!

We had been putting it off for a little while since she had been sleeping fine at night and we were waiting for some skin irritations to let up. But being almost 6 months old we have jumped in to the pool of baby feeding mess.

We first started with a thin gruel of breast milk and rice cereal. Yes, I said we feed our baby thin gruel. Apparently she didn’t think much more highly of it. The first bite she was quite interested in the new experience. We knew she would be interested because she has been trying to get at our dinner plates for quite some time.
After the initial fun had diminished she suddenly realized that we had defiled her tasty milk dinner that she has come to love and cherish.

The first feeding can hardly be called a feeding but it was a start. Subsequent rice cereal feedings showed slight but steady improvement. Then came the good stuff…

This week we have started Savannah on sweet potatoes which were instantly a vast improvement on the rice goo. Though she had trouble keeping the food in at first she started to eat more from each spoonful. Of course she helped out by scrapping the food from the spoon onto her face then washing it down by sucking her thumb after each bite. Eventually she found why all babies love dinner time…smearing the tray with food! It is safe to say that Savannah quite enjoyed herself and does enjoy sweet potatoes. And we all enjoy the pictures.

And apparently Savannah is a NC State Wolfpack fan from birth, making mommy proud.

Please don't go into food marketing anytime soon! "Goo" and "gruel" do not make me want to lay down my money on your products...no matter how flashy the marketing!

I love the second sweet potatoes pic the best!
