My BEST friend Erica and her husband Joel came all the way from Minneapolis to visit us last week and we had such a great time! We were in the house for less than a week before they came and it was such a blessing to have them be our first guests. They loved playing with Savannah and she really did love them as well. She just kept bringing Erica her shoes and wanting to play in their room. They also brought her two great birthday presents, a BEAUTIFUL dress and a very cute cupcake making set. I think she looks so grown up with the dress on and she loves to make cupcakes for everyone (or really just eat the plastic butter).
We enjoyed getting out and showing them Savannah (city), the historic district, the great parks, River Street (and the Savannah Candy Kitchen where we spent a lot of time and well money too!) and just quality time hanging out. Tom and I met Joel at their wedding two years ago for the first time and didn’t really get to know him since he was a little busy so we really enjoyed spending time with both of them. It is great to have friends that you can be silly with and also have a lot of challenging spiritual discussions where you come away knowing that God is doing something in your life to help you grow closer to Him.
We also went to the beach on Monday and had a great time! I think Tom appreciated having someone to play in the water with him and Savannah just likes a crowd to run around with.

We also went to “Mrs. Wilkes” for lunch before they left on Tuesday. Everyone talks about Paula Deen in Savannah but Mrs Wilkes is the place to go. It is family style and you sit down to a table FULL of food. I am talking 3 meats (one being fried chicken of course) and I will guess at least 15 side dishes, maybe even more. It was very very good and we all left needing a nap afterwards.

I will say that after they left we just kinda walked around the house sad for a few days. It was a combination of having such a great time with them, missing having friends and transitioning into the new house and the amount of work still needed to be done. We perked up though and went to the island across River Street to try and get some good 1 year old pictures of Savannah. Well, that did not turn out too well and she does NOT like to stay in one place but rather run around. I think we may have gotten one picture of her face but a lot of her back as she ran away. Here are the best that we could get before the sun went down and the last ferry of the night ran. We are going to keep trying though to see if we can luck up on a good one.

She also discovered that it is way more fun to play with your pool inside (no water of course).
We are also eagerly awaiting baby Grubbs arrival, my sister is due Sept. 8th and that is creeping closer each day. She just went back to work teaching and is such a champ! We hope you come soon baby Grubbs! I personally think it is a boy, they don’t know what they are having but I think Savannah wants a boy cousin to play with! This weekend we are going to North Georgia to meet Tom’s family who is driving down from Indiana for his parent’s 30th wedding anniversary and to see Savannah! I am sure we will have some great pictures of Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Andrea and Uncle Jim, Aunt Jackie and Uncle Dave.
