Oh the pumpkin....

Well we bought a few pumpkins a while ago ($2.50 each at Home Depot) just to help us feel like it was fall. We have been talking about the letter P this week and the difference between pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns. We don't really celebrate Halloween (I don't see the point of it and I want to be sure to encourage our kids with celebrating things that honor God and have a solid Gospel meaning). We do love carving pumpkins though and carved one into a jack-o-lantern with Savannah to enjoy some family time and do something fun. We only carved Savannah's pumpkin as Isaiah said he preferred to have his left plain. We had fun cleaning out the insides and picking out a pattern. Savannah chose a cat. A great time was had by all....

Isaiah was very proud of himself and his pumpkin.

Here is the finished product. Now I must say we had some drama getting to this point. Apparently Tom and I are not that observant because our pumpkins have been sitting on our porch for a few weeks. We went outside to get the pumpkins only to discover they were gone. We think they have been gone for a few days and we just didn't notice. Savannah was so upset that someone would steal our pumpkins. She hypothesized that whoever stole the pumpkins also stole their bubble guns off the porch. Mommy proceeded to head to Home Depot for some more $2.50 pumpkins only to discover they were out. I ended up at Kroger getting $5 pumpkins and some pumpkin ice cream. When daddy finished Savannah's pumpkin it took some convincing to get her to put the pumpkin out on the front porch. She wanted to make sure people knew it was her pumpkin so she had daddy put her name on it. She then turned the name to the street hoping that people would see it was her pumpkin and not take it. Goodness knows what will happen if these pumpkins end up gone. Let's just hope that doesn't happen...

Oh the joys of living in the inner city!!!
