Our home is the best place

We are back from a wonderful but long weekend trip to Tallahassee, Florida.  Sue's grandmother Nana lives in Florida now and we wanted to get down there and see her.  We also were fortunate to stay with Jayne (aka Great Jayne) and Jon Ingram. We left after work on Friday evening for the long drive.  We took our friend Terry from church with us so Sue sat in the back of the van with the kids.  Terry was riding with us because he loves Florida State and dreams of playing college football in a couple years.  Since the men were going to the Florida State v. NC State football game on Saturday Terry came along. We're glad he did. 

The drive took the expected five hours and by 10:00 at night we were all tired. That is until Savannah and Isaiah found all the new toys to play with at Great Jayne's house.  After their second wind we finally got to bed and were ready for a busy weekend in Tallahassee.

During the game Saturday the kids and ladies spent the afternoon with Nana.  They went to Chick-fil-a were there was much excitement (a fire truck open for tours) and much anxiety (a giant cow mascot).  But everyone had a great time on Saturday.  Sunday we went to church with Jayne and Jon at Thomasville Road Baptist Church in town before seeing Nana again in the afternoon.  Then it was time for the long drive back to Savannah again (which seemed very long by the time we got home due to missed naps).

Before we left Sunday Great Jayne was able to take some nice family pictures for us which you can see below.  By the time we finally got back to Savannah, dropped Terry off at his house and then made it to our house we were all very tired and ready for bed.  As I tucked Savannah in we talked about how great of a weekend it was and how fun it was to travel and see everybody.  Savannah agreed and told me about her favorite parts of the weekend (the Narnia toy closet and Nana's little friend).  Then as we said goodnight she added, "Daddy, our home is the best place."  I couldn't have agreed more. It was nice to be back home in bed.
