A Fall Saturday

Well, "fall" here means 85 degrees and we are hoping the heat breaks sometime this week. It has been a rather hot week and we are looking forward to cool weather at some point. After soccer this morning (we'll work on soccer pictures for next week) we grabbed a quick lunch and headed to the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens (formerly the Historic Bamboo Gardens) for their fall garden festival. They promised fun and a little fun was had. We were disappointed because you had to pay for everything and we really didn't want to pay for face painting, bounce houses and pictures in their sad pumpkin "patch" (I acknowledge that we are cheap). We paid an entrance fee, which was only $5 total, but we also didn't want to spend tons of money and there were lots of things to entice kids (the aforementioned items, shaved ice, funnel cakes, kettle corn, shops with lots of small cheap plastic toys, etc).  Everyone enjoyed the fire truck tour, then Tom and the kids took a tractor trailer ride through the gardens and we later went to explore some things further. Tom and I enjoyed the station where they were making cane syrup after grinding sugar cane and the banana trees. Overall the kids were disappointed with the lack of face painting and bounce house fun but we enjoyed family time!

More cute pics! Can't tell if that last picture is a salamander or a lizard, but for our purposes, I'll call it a lizard!
