Run Savannah Run

Last weekend the YMCA put on kid's fun run at Daffin Park near our house.  Savannah likes to run and has been talking about running a "real race" for awhile.  She knows that she is not quite ready for the Rock and Roll Marathon but she has been talking about running/walking the Trail of Hope 5K that we go to each fall. Then she saw the flyer for last weekends mile-ish kids run and she was pumped and ready to run. She was planning her warm routine and laying out her running clothes all week.

Ellie and Isaiah went to cheer on their big sister (and play on the bounce houses after the run). Ellie was very good at holding the sign with her toes but even that made her break out into a sweat.

Check out the stride and focus. She found a running partner which always helps.

Pink outfit, purple metal, blue drink and a proud girl

Savannah did a great job running.  She paced herself nicely at the beginning while some kids sprinted the first 50 yards and started walking.  Overall, she did a great job and was the fourth place girl in the K-3rd elementary age run. After the run she commented that they should not give out top (3) finishers because it was a fun run and not a race. But overall she did a fantastic job and loves running. After the race we hung around while the kids played on bounce houses and Savannah also played lots of fun games with the Y staff - including one that looked like "Sharks & Minnows" but was called the "Fat Food Attack".

Oh and Isaiah took some pictures
