First we went to the Yew Dell Botanical Gardens. It was beautiful and it was a great afternoon outside with the kids exploring some new areas and learning about the history of the botanical garden.
The kids really enjoyed the scavenger hunts.
Look at this cutie.
We even hiked down to find this cool beaver dam.
The kids and I went to the Kentucky Science Center on Friday. We have a membership here but it is on the Cultural Pass list so we checked it out again last week.
I didn't get many pics, but these pictures scare me. Savannah will be 8 soon and she is almost half way to these pictures being a reality! WHAT!!!!
Tom took the kids to the Kentucky Derby Museum on Saturday and they loved it. They have been asking to go since we moved here.
And they're off!
Sunday afternoon we headed to the Farnsley-Moorman House/Riverside Landing south of the city. It is an old homestead and the kids enjoyed lots of things but there were two big things they enjoyed most. free PONY RIDES and ICE CREAM. Take a guess at who liked the ice cream the most.
Savannah decided she wants a pony after this. I had to break the news to her that we were probably not getting a pony. I hate to crush a child's dreams but lets be honest, what would we do with a pony?? But if you ask grandpa real nice....
This is in the garden there. There is a picture (somewhere in our storage unit) of Tom and I in this same spot 13 years ago. It was the same weekend event and we came with 2 other friends for a "date" which was possibly our first date, neither of us can remember. The other 2 friends were not on a date but we were. We really just wanted to have other people with us. A lot has changed in the last 13 years.
We are looking forward to exploring other places in the next few weeks. Yeah for free events!
