Certainly in this time of great change for us it is hard to realize how small these changes are in the scope of all eternity. And yet within that eternal picture we can trust that God cares more than we can know about every new place we go, every new friend we meet, and every new thing we discover in our new home. And we have been discovering new things…
First of all we have all been getting settled into our new place which finally feels a little more comfortable (and not so empty) with everyone here.
Our current home
Sue and Savannah Grace have now been in Georgia a full week while I (Tom) have finished my third week of work with the City of Savannah. I have enjoyed getting to know the city, my coworkers and the projects we are currently working on, which are pretty diverse when it comes to typical urban planning roles. Although there really is no “typical” work in urban planning because it is such a broad field suffice it to say that I am enjoying my new position so far and am excited to see where it can lead in the future.
The first weekend here we enjoyed a breakfast out together and went to the beach in the afternoon. We are already loving the 15 minute drive to the beach from our house. And it is hard not to love Tybee Beach when their slogan says, “Where Savannah lets her hair down.” On Sunday we went to the Savannah Theater to check out a church that meets there and then spent the afternoon at a nearby park, complete with a game of pickup soccer. Overall we really just enjoyed spending time together the first weekend.
Tom passed off the writing to me (this is Sue) so lets see where should I start…. Savannah has decided that since she is now in a new place with a new room she should start doing new things. She took her first steps about two weeks ago and is now taking 6-7 steps at a time on average with one incident where she took at least 10-12 steps to get from her toy to the baby gate! She has also loved playing with her toys in her own room (especially all of the fun stuff from her grandparents).
Enjoying her toys in her room.
We are so proud of her and how fast she is growing up. I have loved this past week being home with her and look forward to being home with her for now and enjoying how fast she is growing up! She just loves to learn new things and we went to a Savannah Sand Gnats game on Friday night where she was a hit with the crowd smiling, clapping and just being cute!
Walking under the like oaks at Daffin Park
Go GNATS! (they lost, again)
Tired out from the old ball game.
We have also been working this week on getting pre-approved for a mortgage! That’s right moving again! We like the house that we are renting but we have found it to be a good buyers market here and the prices are perfect for us so we are looking at houses this weekend! Tom found one before Savannah and I even got here and we are really excited about possibly buying a house soon (I am not excited about the whole packing and moving thing again, but at least now we know it will be for good)! We will keep you posted on the progress. We apologize for the lack of blogs recently as it has definitely been a transition but we also don’t have internet access at home so the library on the weekend is all we have. So here are more pictures of Savannah recently doing what she does, being cute!
