For those of you who don’t know your southern state nicknames Georgia is known as the “Peach State” while South Carolina is known as the “Palmetto State”. Interestingly enough we took a trip up to Greenwood, South Carolina and along the way it became apparent that both states are misnamed. We’ve seen a whole lot more palms and palmettos in Georgia compared to South Carolina. We haven’t even seen a single peach orchard or peach stand in Georgia yet but passed at least 7 or 8 roadside stands the first 20 miles into South Carolina…and we stopped twice for peaches and cantaloupe. Which by the way, if you want good southern peaches Big Daddy says to wait until July 1st so that the peaches get the good southern sun during June, which brings the flavor out.
South Carolina Peaches!
Anyway we did have a good trip up to Greenwood last weekend to see Nana and Big Daddy, Uncle Bobo, Grammy and Poppie. We’ve never had to drive north to see anyone on Sue’s side of the family so it was a little change of scenery driving up through Georgia and South Carolina.
Hanging out with Big Daddy
Play hard, sleep hard
Savannah had a blast staying at the hotel which included sleeping in the big bed and a fun time in the swimming pool to escape the 100+ heat. Grammy and Poppie brought along some fun swim toys that Savannah really enjoyed. She also had her first experience going under water.
Enjoying the pool with Grammy & Poppie
We’re still house hunting and have a couple we’re interested in. They all have a bit of ‘Savannah’ charm to them, some new, some old, all in neighborhoods near downtown. Can you guess which one is not in our price range?

I saw LOTs with ocean views in Wilmington, NC for 1.5 million...not house on it!
I love the modern looking tall on in the middle of the pack. The cute ones with great porches are wonderful too!
