Winter Hiking (without 2' of snow)

Standing outside of church on Sunday I heard one of the old timers say that they were tired of the cold winter and ready for summer.  I guess the term "cold" is a relative term.

While the weather has indeed been chilly for Savannah, considering our azaleas should be blooming in a couple weeks, it has not been cold enough to keep us inside during the day.

Tom and Savannah took Dixie to explore the Bacon Park Forest trails in the city. We had a great time hiking around for an hour or so.  It had been raining a lot the day before and being a coastal forest there were plenty fresh water sloughs around.  Savannah kept warning Dixie that these were "alligator ponds."  Thankfully she has been well conditioned to fear the gators (real ones, not Florida Gators).

We also recently bought a new car seat for Savannah. We figured that we would need two toddler seats eventually so we went ahead and bought one to put in the Jeep for now.  Savannah absolutely loves having her own car seat in "Daddy's Jeep" and she always asks for "checking for my God".  In Savannah's language that means she wants to listen to Christian rap, not the radio.

We also spent Sunday afternoon at Ft. Pulaski and Cockspur Island for Georgia Free Museum Sunday.  We went to Ft Pulaski last year as well but we didn't get to hike the whole lighthouse trail so we tried again this year.  Savannah took the lead during the hike while Isaiah enjoyed the ride.

Savannah was supposed to stand next to Sue and Isaiah for this picture but she prefers to be in the foreground

The Cockspur Lighthouse is the smaller of the two lighthouses in the Savannah River.  It can only be reached by kayak so this trail from Ft Pulaski is the closest we can get to it (until we perfect our sea kayak skills).
