Sending....

We love our church! I mean we LOVE our church! We haven't found a church before that is so intentional about preaching the Bible and being in Community. Don't get me wrong, we have been to other churches with great sermons and teaching but we really feel like we have found a church that isn't afraid to preach the Bible no matter what common culture says. Jesus teaches us to be counter-cultural.

"What good is it for a man to gain the whole word yet forfeit his soul?"  Mark 9:36

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."  John 16:33

Jesus wants us to know that it isn't easy to be His follower but that He has overcome all the evil and sin through His death.  "He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him." Colossians 2:15 (I used the ESV here, I like the language)

1 John 5:1-13
1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.  2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands.  3 This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,  4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.  5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.  6 This is the one who came by water and blood-- Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.  7 For there are three that testify:  8 the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.  9 We accept man's testimony, but God's testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son.  10 Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son.  11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.  13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Our pastor taught on the Great Commission this past Sunday. If you haven't read Matthew 28 recently, DO IT! It is the purpose of Jesus' return. He Had to come back to life to prove His deity(Colossians 2:9), to conquer death and to inform us of our role as believers. We are to Go. We celebrated two of our young adults that are doing just that. One guy is Jimmy. Tom has spent a lot of time with him in the last two years or so in a discipleship/mentor/friend relationship. Jimmy is going to Philly for some great training in Biblical counseling. I think Tom is going to miss him but is excited for what God is doing in his life. The other is Matthew. He is going on an amazing race. Ok, not the show but it is a 11 month long mission trip to 11 different countries. They won't know where they are going until they get there and they take little more than their bibles, a few clothes and lots of faith. The world needs some more participants on the most important amazing race there is.

Jesus is Mighty to save.

I wish I could say that each day I wake up with a desire and passion to live out the Great Commission in my life at the store, park and library. It is hard to get out of bed most mornings and jump into the thick of it as a stay at home mom. I struggle, I fail and the Lord shows me grace for another day. For that I am thankful.

We love this song in our house. This is a woman named Kim Walker with Jesus Culture. She has a beautiful voice. David Crowder Band does a great version of this as well and they have a cool video. Search YouTube!

The story behind it just adds to how great it is. The man who wrote it did so after one of his best friends who was a Youth Pastor was killed in a car accident. His immediate grief lead to this song of God's unending love for us.  Please check out the videos if you can get them to load, they are awesome!
