Who will you worship???

As we prepare for Christmas just consider who or what you worship. Look at your family budget (where is your money spent?). Look at your time plan for the week (where is your time spent?) What have you been thinking about today? As you read the Christmas story in Luke 2 (if you haven't read it yet this year I suggest going ahead and reading it) what was the angels response? What did the shepherds do with haste? They worshipped Jesus this child born so that death shall no longer have a hold on us. What then shall our response be. We should worship. As our pastor stated yesterday, God CHOSE to allow his ONLY Son to be born for the express purpose of being CRUSHED for the sins of people who could care less. We are sinful broken people and our goal of being a good person to try to bridge the gap with the Father is no more than filthy rags in His eyes. He is perfect and Holy and we are not. God's love for us compelled Him to bridge that gap on His own. He sent Jesus as a baby to be born so that he might die. (He is the only person in history whose sole purpose was to die. God created us with the purpose of creating life.) If we believe this, place our faith in God for the forgiveness of our sins and ask God to be the Lord of our lives our eternity is sealed in Heaven. So what is your response? It should be to worship the Almighty, Holy, Perfect, Loving God who loved you first. Don't get lost in the Christmas rush to remember our first love.....
