Carolina Christmas

We enjoyed Christmas in North Carolina again this year. While we did not get to enjoy any snow this time around it was a blessing to be around Sue's family as we celebrated Christ's coming, God's gift to us. We always enjoy being at the Moravian Love Feast on Christmas Eve.  It is such a beautiful service of wonderful music, scripture, candlelight and delicious buns & coffee.

Christmas preparations always include making Christmas sugar cookies with Grammy and Poppie.  Savannah loves baking and Isaiah and even Ellie enjoy helping out. Savannah's specialty is making a Christmas tree shaped cookie with a star shaped cookie attached on top before baking.  Isaiah's specialty is lathering on frosting.  Ellie's specialty is whatever she can get her hands on.

We have started the tradition of reading the Christmas story out of the Gospel of Luke, chapter 2, on Christmas morning. We picked this up from Grandpa Stephens.  This year Savannah decided she wanted to read the whole story for the family.  She had been very excited to show off her reading skills and she loves the story of Jesus' birth.  While the bright lights of reading Christmas morning got to her a little bit she did a fantastic job.

Christmas was a full family affair as we enjoyed opening gifts and Christmas dinner with the whole Walker/Lotz clan.  Uncle Lulu and Aunt Jan, Uncle Rick and Aunt Sue with Katie and Philip, Uncle Jason and Aunt Jayne with Harrison, and Grammy and Poppy.

 Second best Christmas gift ever!

 Woo hoo! Blocks!

 Woo hoo! Trucks!

Sand Gnats what!? Plus homemade ornaments.

Sue (and the kids) did a great job making all kinds of wonderful homemade Christmas gifts for people this year.  It was a very Pinterest Christmas! Very creative and well done. By the looks of everyone else, all were pleased Christmas morning and the time spent together was appreciated and enjoyed by all.

We even finished the Christmas week with a Christmas cousin sleep over.  Good times were had by all - except for anyone who actually wanted to sleep!  Actually, everyone did a great job together. It was a wonderful week of celebrating Christmas together.
