Twas the Night Before...the Daddy-Daughter Date

One of the favorite family times we have is "Daddy-Daughter Date" and "Mommy-Son Date" and the reverse "Dude Time" and "Girl Time".  Two years ago Savannah and I (Daddy) went to the Trustees Theater downtown for a showing of the Curious George Christmas movie - complements of SCAD.  We accidentally went to the theater on the wrong day.  It ending up working out really well because Savannah and I got to watch a dress rehearsal for a Christmas dance recital at the theater.  She still talks about watching the dancers at the theater.  So this year I saw that the theater was hosting the Savannah Children's Ballet performance of Twas the Night Before Christmas.  Enter the Daddy-Daughter Date of Savannah's dreams.  The whole family headed to City Market for some kids activities prior to the afternoon showing then Savannah headed to the theater.

Savannah was very excited for the show to start even though we got there pretty early.

She did a great job of sitting in the theater during the show - which was longer than I expected.

Act I was the Christmas Eve party seen.  It had a lot of dancing and was pretty long but Savannah said it was her favorite part of the show.  We were surprised to see one of Savannah's friends from church in the ballet (in the red dress to the right).

The lead ballerina in Act II was very talented and Savnanah loved her outfit.

Savannah's least favorite part was the large dancing mice.  Can't blame her.

All in all we had a fantastic time at our very first ballet (mine and hers).  I really hope that it is these times where we are making memories that will last a life time for our kids.  I hope they cherish these times for a long time.  Nevertheless, Savannah's first words after the curtain closed and the lights went up were, "Ok, where are we going now?"  So much for cherishing the moment.  Here's hoping for the future memories.

As I said, prior to going to the ballet we all attended the City Market Christmas kids open house.  We attended last year and had a good time.  We attended again this year while it was 80 degrees outside. I guess a white Christmas is out of the question.  Savannah was most excited about making Christmas ornaments again (which we did).  Isaiah was most excited about seeing Gnate the Gnat at the event just as we did last year. As you can tell from the picture he was dressed for the event but unfortunately we did not see Gnate at the event this year. I guess Gnate needs his rest during the winter. Oh well, April is only four months away.

Savannah looks lovely all dressed up! One of my fondest memories was going to the ballet (Nutcacker) in Savannah with Jayne and Mimi while Sue and Daddy shopped. Thanks for the update! Can't wait to see all of you next weekend! We love you.
