More Museum Sunday...Trains!

As we mentioned earlier this week we really enjoyed Free Museum Sunday in Coastal Georgia. Tricentennial Park is of course the home of the Spring Hill Redoubt and Battlefield Park but it is also the home of the Georgia State Railroad Museum, the developing Savannah Children's Museum and the offices/workshops of the Coastal Heritage Society.  Below are some of the trains we saw (and rode!) while there was much more we did not capture on camera. The Central of Georgia Roundhouse Complex includes the roundhouse turntable, old railroad shops, engines and cars under renovation, model trains and more. Well worth a visit when in Savannah, though the free visit is a once a year deal.

This is one of two engines they use for very short excursion rides within the complex.
There are hoped for future plans to rebuild the viaduct adjacent to the site to extend the rides.

Numerous car interiors are available for tours.  The Pullman Presidential cars were quite swanky.

 Everyone loves a caboose!
Especially Isaiah, who did not want to get out of the raised platform seat

Ellie was excited until the horn sounded and wheels started rolling
