Home from the hospital and changing diapers

No, we haven't had Isaiah yet (at least not as of the post time). We did return home earlier this evening from the emergency animal hospital though. It appears we may have much more exciting news to post soon (as I watch my wife breath deeply at 3 a.m.) so I thought I would go ahead and blog about Dixie's traumatic night.

We walked up to the park for Savannah to play and Sue to walk some laps. After Sue left us at the playground we enjoyed the swings and other kids while she went off to walk some more. After playing for some time we started watching for Sue to come back...then we noticed her walking frantically and carrying Dixie in her arms.

Just so you know, a 9 month pregnant woman covered in blood carrying a 35 pound dog in her arms through a city park is never a good sight, especially if its your wife.

Apparently, while Sue was walking around the lake in the park she stopped to let a lady and her 5 large dogs pass by. Now, we have seen this lady plenty of times at the park and have seen her struggle to handle the dogs - but never thought too much of it. This time, however, one of her dogs got loose from her grip and ran straight for Dixie and latching on to her legs and shaking her. Needless to say Dixie lost out to the dog twice her size.

In the end Dixie ended up with a couple lacerations on her front paw and some heavy bandages and pain meds for the next 10 days. (FYI-some of the following pictures contain blood).

On much lighter news....Savannah is practicing hard to be a great big sister. She received a birthday present from Uncle Dave and Aunt Jackie this week. We let here open it early and she is absolutely loving her brand new "baby boy". Its a cabbage patch baby which she is very sweet with - including changing its diaper, putting him to bed (on the toy box), feeding him dinner, and pushing him in the swing. Below are some pictures from earlier today.

Baby news will be forthcoming as there is more to share.
