We had a pretty warm winter so I was sure they were going to be in full bloom by the end of March. So this past weekend we went to Forsyth Park with some friends to take family pictures with the flowers as our backdrop. Saturday was beautiful and sunny with the flowers almost in full bloom. Some of the HUGE azaelas around the main fountain at Forsyth were pretty close but not to full bloom yet.
Its a good thing we took photos last weekend as the azaleas never quite made it to their potential peak extravagence. Sunday started us on three days of pretty heavy storms. It even hailed on Sunday right as a very good friend of ours was proposing downtown (Congratulations Jimmy and Madeleine, she said yes in the rain!). Needless to say the azaelas are pretty much done for the year since the heavy rains beat up the delicate flowers pretty good. Its sad since they are so beautiful for such a short time. The rest of the year it is just a big green shrub. So if you visit in the spring, be sure to check the weather.
Here are some pictures we got and are so thankful for! We met some friends up there to get pictures of all four of us and take some for them, thanks Michael and Heather!

It may have been a bad idea to use fruit snacks to bribe him to smile, it backfired after I tried to take some back !
This one if my favorite ones from the day.

We had a hard time getting the kids to smile or even look at the camera, but I think this one is great!
Here is one of Michael and Heather, thanks again for helping us get such great memories! They are getting married in just over 8 weeks and we are very excited for them!
