Snowed in

Well, I feel like I should have been able to do a blog earlier this week while we were snowed in, but we have been busy doing life. Tom worked from home most of this week as we got a lot of snow on Monday and then it was super cold (like lows in the way negative range). We got a lot of school done and per usual, played lots of games and enjoyed time together. I did venture out to go to the grocery store yesterday and have realized quickly that the super cold weather is NOT for me, yikes!

Daddy had a pretty good view from his home office!
And a great volunteer assistant. She brought him a balloon that she got for free at the grocery store, some water and a snack. Friday she told me she was sad because she missed her daddy while he is at work, I feel ya Ellie, we all loved having him home!
No wonder they call U of L the Cardinals, they are everywhere!
Chess is a family event around here.
The kids and daddy went sledding earlier in the week, but it was wayyy tooo cold to go later in the week.

One of the reasons I love homeschool is that we don't have snow days! I heard the woman checking me out at the grocery store complaining that her kids were home all week and being so thankful when they go back on Monday. I sometimes get overwhelmed when I go for weeks on end with no break from kids (aside from the weekly grocery store trip which Ellie usually always go with me on, she cried for a while when I didn't take her yesterday since it was 3 degrees), but I am so thankful for the time I get to spend with them each day. Homeschool is NOT easy and it is overwhelming somedays to do school, cook, clean, do laundry, etc. etc., but I am thankful more than overwhelmed. I am sad for her that the idea of spending time with her kids made her want to complain. Our kids are only the age that they are today for 1 day, I don't want to miss today.

Caroline learning a little something about presidents.
Seriously, look at this sweet baby, I just love her!
 So does Ellie, A LOT!
Ellie also loves to play chess. It is super cute. We play at least once a day. This is how the game goes. She lines up her pieces in random order usually not even close to the correct way. We pick colors based on what we are wearing if you have any white or black on that is the color you are. Today I was black because my hair is black because I was wearing red and there isn't any red pieces. She then proceeds to take her king and take my king as her first move. Good move kid! We then proceed to jump each other and if you jump someone you take their piece and then give them your piece. At the end she usually likes to be the last one with a piece or to have a jump.

She often likes the pieces to get married to each other. Here is the king and queen getting married.

If we run out of pieces she will put a piece back so she can win.
Then she is sad because all the pieces are gone. I love her.

Here are a few other pictures from the visit to Fort Wayne a few weeks ago, lots of fun was had by all!

 Grandma's little girls!

Grandpa helped with science and we were able to dissect an abandoned hornets nest and then see some of Grandpa's old bee screens from some bees he lost. It was very cool!

Savannah then had her first sewing lesson with Grandma. Homeschool is so fun!

Just a few cute pics of Ellie and Caroline

On another note, we are moving again next weekend. If anyone knows someone in Savannah who would like to buy a house we have a great house for sale! We dropped our price last week in hopes of getting some more interest. The interest has come with lots of online viewings but no one has requested to see it, kind of disappointing. We would love to sell it sooner rather than later so we can be settled here in Louisville. We are moving in with some sweet friends the Whitlocks. They are so generous to open up their home to all six of us. We are praying it is a beneficial relationship for all involved and that we would be a blessing to have in their home.

Love seeing the children playing in the snow! Looks like a great hill to sled on, too! I am thankful that you keep up the blog so we can keep up with how quickly the children are growing, which is way too fast, that's for sure. Love to all! Mom
