Savannah in January!

Well for those of you who live north of us and have had a harsh winter so far we must apologize. We are finding out that January in Savannah is actually quite nice. I know you are going to say "Yeah but July is probably brutal" and it can be but last summer wasn't too bad, hot but not too bad and we aren't sure if we just got lucky or if January is always like this. Anyway it was 70 here today so we decided to get out and explore some. We spent most of the morning at the park up the street from us and Savannah played with just about all of the playground equiptment (she even tried the big kid stuff). She then came home and promptly took a nap. Tom worked a little bit more on the future herb bed in the front yard and Dixie spent her time digging and "helping" Tom. We then ate a quick lunch and headed out to Ft. Pulaski near Tybee Island. We have driven by it often but had not visited yet. We had a very good time and Savannah tired herself out running around the fort and the perimeter. We also tried hiking the trail from the fort to Cockspur lighthouse built in the Savannah River mouth but Savannah's little legs didn't quite make it that far. Perhaps another day.

The fort took quite a beating before surrendering, lots of cannon shots. They have daily cannon firings and it was really loud!

What is a fort without the mote?

We counted at least 57 spaces for cannons on top of the fort and we think maybe even that many underneath as well.

We then thought, well since we are so close to the beach let's go. We headed out to Tybee for a run on the beach and we made it just in time for sunset. It really was beautiful out there, a tad bit chilly but beautiful. Savannah again ran all over the beach and was tired and hungry by the time we left. We picked up a quick bite to eat on the way home and it was bath and bed for our little girl. We all had a great day spending time together and I think that Savannah is really worn out.

It was great because the moon was full and if you looked to your left you saw the moon and to your right was a great sunset!

As another addition to this blog.......

We are having another baby!!!! I am due on July 31st and am about 11 weeks pregnant right now and we are very excited for another beautiful blessing from God. I have been pretty nauseous but ask any woman who has been pregnant and they will say it is not a big deal when you realize how amazing it is that there is this tiny tiny life growing inside you, the sickness pales in importance. So, you are now officially updated!
